Description
While measuring in LT1 with an LT-2D3D or LT-55 XL, the following error appears
Error: Angle measurement error, please try again or call if the issue persists.
Cause
This error may appear due to one of four potential causes listed below in order of likelihood:
- Pending Windows Update
- Damaged USB port on the tablet
- Damaged or failing USB cable
- Damaged or failing USB PCB
Resolution
Troubleshoot the following four potential causes
Cause 1 - Pending Windows Updates
The most likely reason to see this error is that there is a pending Windows Update that needs to finish being installed. The update may have been installed but still requires the tablet to be restarted. To check for Windows Updates:
- Click
- Click
- Click Updates & Security
- Click Check for updates
- Install any updates that are needed and restart the tablet once they are complete.
Cause 2 - Damaged USB port on the tablet
With repeated use, the USB port on the tablet can become damaged if a USB plug is inserted forcefully. This can usually be determined by:
- Gently wiggling the USB plug while inserted into the tablet.
- If there is a fair amount of movement or the USB plug inserts with little resistance, it is likely the USB port is damaged. In this case, please contact our service department at the number at the bottom of this article.
Cause 3 - Damaged or failing USB cable
With repeated use, the USB cable connecting the LT to the tablet can become damaged if inserted into the tablet’s USB forcefully or if the cable is put under forceful strain such as pinching it while closing the case. This can usually be determined by:
- Gently wiggling the UBS plug around while inserted into the tablet.
- If there is a fair amount of movement or the USB plug inserts with little resistance, it is potentially the USB cable.
- Insert a second USB plug into the USB port on the tablet such as a USB flash drive.
- If there is still a fair amount of movement or the USB plug inserts with little resistance, it is most likely the USB port on the tablet, not the USB cable.
- If there is very little movement or the USB plug inserts with resistance, it is most likely the USB cable.
- In this case, please contact our service department at the number at the bottom of this article.
Cause 4 - Damaged or failing PCB
If you were not able to determine if the error is the result of one of the above three issues, a damaged for failing PCB (printed circuit board) is the most likely cause.
